June 26th 2025:
Working hard on mastering and finetuning the mix. 6 hours are checked, 5 are completely corrected and are done. It takes a lot of time and effort, but it’s going to be a great result in the end!
June 6th 2025:
Took a little break from the project because of some back pains and i needed some rest. At the moment four hours are checked, mastered and completed. The third and fourth hour are checked, but need a second check. This weekend i’ll be starting on mastering and checking the fifth hour!
May 14th 2025:
New intro has been made and the first hour has been checked and mastered. The next few days i’ll listen to the first hour serveral times to see if there still are some places to improve!
May 9th 2025:
And i’m done mixing!!!!! All tracks are mixed in a 10 hours mix… Now i can begin creating a new intro and a outro for the mix. After that it will be weeks of tweaking, testing, volume adjusting and many more litte things to polish op the mix.
May 9th 2025:
Only 10 tracks to go! Had to do some editing in the previous hours to fit some tracks that had a wrong BPM value. Should have checked that, but with more than 850 tracks, that was a big task to undertake… Hope to get the mixing part finished by tomorrow!
May 8th 2025:
40 minutes are complete and there are 26 tracks to go! With a little luck i’ll be done mixing this weekend! Then it’s time for the outro and a brand new intro.
May 5th 2025:
Almost halfway the last hour, still 43 track to go!
May 1st 2025:
19 minutes into the last hour! Over 800 tracks are mixed! 55 more to go!
April 28th 2025:
The 9th hour has been completed, but need to extend some tracks to get the full hour. One hour with 83 tracks to go! Then there will be a new intro made for the first hour and the long process of checking everything will begin.
April 12th 2025:
Started the 9th hour! Five and a halve minutes in! Almost on the 700 tracks marker!
April 3rd 2025:
The 8th hour is almost halfway and the track counter has gone up to 651 tracks!
March 21th 2025:
Took a little break from mixing last week, but managed to finish the 7th hour this week!
There are now 602 tracks in 7 hours of mixen. Only three more hours to go!
March 8th 2025:
Started the 7th hour and i’m at the 20 minutes point. 550 tracks are in the mix!
February 28th 2025:
Haven’t updated the page for last few days, but i’m still going great on this massive project. Today i’ve reached the 500 tracks marker! I’m still working on the 6th hour, but i’m around 50 minutes so that part should be completed this weekend.
I still have to contact Deep Radio about the way we’re going to broadcast this monster. Fingers crossed it can be done in one long broadcast!
February 17th 2025:
I’m on the half way point!!!! 5 hours of mixing is done, at least almost 5 hours. I’m mixing the hours up to 58 minutes, because it’s still not clear how the mix will be broadcasted. If it can’t be broadcast in one go, i’ll have to account for commercialbreaks on the whole hour. Same goes if it has te broadcasted over 10 weeks.
No worries, every hour will be extended to a full 60 minutes version so i can create the full 10 hour version that will be available on this website.
The upcoming week is a vacation week, so i’m hoping to spend a lot of time on the mix.
So where are at?
– 5 hours completed
– New intro is in the works
– Mastering and final check of these 5 hours will be done this upcoming week
– 427 tracks of the 861 (it’s a clue!) tracks are used
February 1st 2025:
Finished the 4th hour of this 10 hour marathon of a mix! Now working on the details of this hour, so it’s mastering and nitpicking time!
I’m hoping to start the 5th hour tomorrow.

January 25th 2025:
The 750th episode is coming in about 30 weeks, so i thought it would be nice to start a little blog about it.
What can i share about this episode? Well, it will be a mix of TEN(!) hours! I don’t know if Deep Radio can broadcast the whole mix in one day, so it might be broadcasted in 10 episodes. The full 10 hour version will be posted on www.thefunkison.nl for streaming (if i can get it to work).
I have started in December 2024 with the preperations and also did some mixing. At this point the mix is 3,5 hours long, needs A LOT of corrections and touch-ups, needs a new intro (don’t like the current one) and there is a lot more mixing to do, since i’m not even close to the half way point.
What tracks will be used? That will be revealed in the near future…
